I whipped up this "super duper awesome" jammie set for my DS tonight. He has been growing like a weed lately, so new duds were a must. I decided that instead of taking my $$ to the store, I would simply shop my fabric stash. The blue knit was obtained at the amazingly cheap walmart $1 yrd table, and the oh-so-boy robot print flannel was a leftover from jammies a few years back. I have to say that this is one of my all time favorite boy prints ever. It is flannel from the Alexander Henry "Ready, Set, Robot" line.
It only took about 2 hours to do the whole set, complete with the usual interruptions of, "May I have some milk Mommy?, and "He's bugging me!" The pattern was Simplicity 7036, and I tweaked it. Yes, that's right, I didn't obey the rules! The knit shirt was designed to have a ZIPPER in the back. Hmmm all that nice snuggly soft blue knit with a bumpy uckky zipper up the back. What were they thinking?? I just eliminated the entire back seam, turned and stitched the neckline, and it went over the boy's head just fine. The pants are the same pattern, and they fit great, except I cut the elastic a tad too big, so they hang a teensy bit below the ideal waist point.
Well, I feel that I accomplished something today, since I sewed 2 pair corduroy pants, and 1 pair of jammies, kept the house from disintegrating, taught school, made dinner, and only drank 2 lattes. Happy Stitching Y'all!
